NATIONAL MULTISTAKEHOLDER FORUM

The Multi-Stakeholder Forum (MF) is the national body responsible for guiding the development of the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and Plan of Action. To ensure an open and consultative process, the forum will be made up of members selected by the four lead partners and will provide a platform for representatives from the federal and state government, NGOs, private industry, academia and the public sector to actively engage in the development process.  
The forum is responsible for:
  • Reviewing substantive matters involved in the development of the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and Plan of Action.
  • Establishing the multi-stakeholder sector working groups to consult on sectoral climate impacts and adaptation.
  • Validating work by the MSWGs and determining the validation process for the NASPA.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that the ownership of the process and of the results is wide and deep, that the process is credible, and that the strategy is relevant and well-done.

The Chairpersons, Project Coordinator and the four lead partners make crucial decisions regarding the MF, including how and when to co-opt new members, changes in the role of the MF, financial matters and other crucial or strategic matters that may be brought forward.

The members of the National Multi-Stakeholder Forum are:

Prof. Ologe is a Professor Emeritus of Geography, University of Abuja. He has expertise in environmental management and development. Prof Ologe runs an environment-based consultancy firm in Abuja.

Prof. Oladipo is a Professor of Geography specialising in Climatology. He was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1992 in the Department of Geography, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria before joining the UNDP where he worked for 12 years. Since 2006 he has been working as the Regional Co-ordinator of GEF-assisted Integrated Ecosystem Management Project between Nigeria and Niger Republic. He is a member of Vision 20:2020 on Environment.

Deborah  Msheliza is a lecturer with the Department of Geography, University of Maiduguri. She has interests in environmentally related issues especially indigenous people’s response to environmental change. Her current research focuses on indigenous knowledge and practice in the sustainable resource utilization.

Dr. Sani Dawaki Usman  is Deputy Director Research and Environment Statistics, in the Department of Policy Anlysis, Monitoring and Inspectorate of the Federal Ministry of Environment. His main area of expertise is in the Monitoring of the Environment.

Dr Godwin Ojo is Director of Environmental Rights Action/Friends of the Earth Nigeria, an advocacy group that is working for the protection of the environment and the democratization of development. He has worked extensively on environmental human rights issues relating to livelihoods, pro-poor policy, and climate change.

Mr. Amos T. Ali is Director of  Natural Resources Conservation in the Adamawa State Ministry of Environment, Yola. He is charged with the responsibilities of conservation/ regeneration of the state's flora and fauna, for desertification amelioration as well as climate change mitigation.

Priscilla M Achakpa is the Executive Director and Co-founder, Women Environmental Programme, Nigeria. WEP is one of the leading women NGOs in Nigeria that has worked extensively on gender and environmental issues relating to research, advocacy and lobbying for pro-poor policies inclusivity, human rights, livelihoods, capacity building of the grassroots and climate change.

Mr. Chinedum Uwaegbulam heads the Housing & Environment Desk of Guardian Newspapers Limited – one of the major national dailies in Nigeria. He has an extensive knowledge of environmental issues and development communications.

Eze Onyekpere is a lawyer and lead director, Centre for Social Justice (CSJ). CSJ's vision is of a Nigeria where social justice informs public decision making. Over the years Eze Onyekpere has worked on a rights based approach to issues of public expenditure management, constitutional reform, power sector reforms and political financing. He is specifically interested in the fiscal issues of climate change.

Mrs. Julie Ukeje is a Meteorologist with the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET).  She currently heads the Applied Meteorological Services’ Directorate of the Agency after spending over 25 years in the Agency’s Climate Services Division. Mrs. Ukeje is highly experienced in the development of climate information services’ products aimed at enhancing the operations as well as meeting the climate change adaptation needs of the various weather-sensitive socio-economic sectors. 

Mr. Philip F. Aziegbe holds a masters in human resources management and currently serving in the department of Regional Development of the National Planning Commission. He has served as a member of various National Committees and Forums set up by the Federal Government including the National Steering Committee on Nigerian Cities under the Cities Alliance Programme.

Odigha Odigha holds a B.Sc degree in Mathematics/ Statistics from the University of Calabar and an MBA which he earned in 1984 from the University of Lagos. Mr. Odigha Odigha is Executive Director of NGOCE, a coalition of NGOs and community based organizations that works to protect the last tropical rainforest in Nigeria. He is currently Chair of the Cross River State Forestry Commission
